Writing Challenge: Blurred Lines

This writing challenge was sponsored by Adam Gaylord during an Indiegogo campaign we ran last year. It has taken a long time to get to a point where we could run it but that time has come at last. The theme and prompt for this writing challenge was crafted by Adam and is as follows:

One of the greatest characters in fiction is that of “the other”, those nearly but not-quite human characters we see so much of ourselves in. The best monsters, robots, and aliens blur the lines between us and them and it’s that push on the edges of our humanity that helps us understand who we are. Give us blurred lines, pushed boundaries, and others that make us ask, where do we end and they begin?

The winner of this writing challenge will receive a prize of $15 and have their story published on the Dark Futures website, as well as in the next issue of Phase 2 magazine.

Send entries to Submissions (at) DarkFuturesFiction.net and include BLURRED LINES in the subject line. If you fail to include that in the subject line, your entry may be overlooked. The deadline for the challenge is March 14th. Stories under 2500 words are preferred. If you have any questions, just e-mail them to Editor (at) DarkFuturesFiction.net and we will respond to them as soon as we can.
